




TC CHAIRMAN NJIKOKA DECRIES INCREASE IN GENDER VIOLENCE: Orders arrest of man who beat pregnant wife to pulp.
The Transition Chairman Njikoka LGA , Aguiyi CO on Thursday 31st August ordered for the immidiate arrest , investiagtion and possible prosecution by the police of one Mr. Ogbonna Patrick Nwaogbo, aged 45years from Ifite village Enugwu-agidi at the instance of Njikoka Local government Area for.allegedly beat his pregnant wife to pulp.
Upon arrest and investigation, It was revealed by the Abagana Divisional Police DPO, SP Ifeanyi Umeh who said that one ONI BLESSING aged 29YRS from Kogi State reported the asdault at about 8pm on the 31st of August alleging that the husband Ogbonna Patrick Nwaogbo Aged 45years of Ifite Enugwu Agidi beat her to stupor and injured her right eye as a result of which she couldn’t see again. She also stated that the suspect kicked her on her stomach repeatedly despite her pronounced Pregnancy which has caused complications.
On receipt of the report operatives of Abagana Divisional Police station visited the scene and arrested the Suspect. Her two year old child was also recovered from him.
The suspect in his statement , admitted to the offense.
The TC Chairman of Njikoka, Clem Aguiyi Esq urged people to report any suspected incidents of gender-based violence and said that police across the local government have been ordered to “increase” their vigilance. “It is not a private issue as it was understood in the past, we cannot go back to that thought, it is a social tragedy that must be stopped in our society.
He also called on the Honourable Commissioner for women affairs to take this up. He said gender violence should not have a place in our civillization
